Pattern Insurance announces new head of underwriting

Insurtech and managing general agent Pattern Insurance has named Joyce Segall (pictured) as its new head of underwriting.

Segall, who will be based in Pattern Insurance’s US office, will take on a role with global reach, the company explained. She will utilize her wealth of knowledge in developing and implementing insurance products and services to assist partners “in creating protections that give lasting value, customer loyalty and ancillary revenue,” a release added.

With more than 20 years of underwriting and product development experience, Segall joins Pattern from AccuRisk Ancillary Solutions LLC, where she served as president of the medical gap insurance division of the managing general agent AccuRisk Solutions.

“I’m delighted to join Pattern’s team of bold, innovative and talented individuals and look forward to continuing to foster the company’s innovation culture,” said Segall. “I’m very impressed with how Pattern has created easy-to-use embedded insurance capabilities and game-changing real-time parametric solutions. Pattern’s parametric technology will revolutionize coverage and adjudication, changing the landscape of operational administration for our insurance carrier partners.”

“I am excited to welcome Joyce as she joins us as part of our focus to grow our insurance capabilities in the US at a pivotal time,” commented Pattern Insurance co-founder and CEO Meitav Harpaz. “One of our core strengths is in our ability to quickly bring to market elastic and highly customized protections that fit any business need.”

Harpaz also mentioned in a statement that with the US market being “so highly fragmented and complex to operate in,” that embedding insurance products at scale is a “big cross-functional challenge.”
