Summer Fun Essentials to Keep in Your Car

Summer Fun Essentials to Keep in Your Car

It’s officially summer! Poolside hangouts by day and bonfires by night. With all the possibilities
summer lends for social events and the opportunity to get out and about, you’ll
want to be prepared for any and all events at a moment’s notice.

To stay prepared for summer fun, we’ve put
together a list of essential items you’ll want to keep in your car all season
long:

Sunscreen
The ultimate summer must-have! Keeping sunscreen in
your car is an effective way to help ensure you never forget to wear it during
your summer adventures. Whether it be a day at the lake or a sunny summer hike,
you’ll want to make sure you have SPF handy to protect yourself from the sun’s
rays.

A beach
bag –
If you live by a body of water or have pool-owning friends,
then you never know when you may be in need of a suit, towel and a pair of
flip-flops. Keep a pre-packed bag in your car so you’re always ready to hit the
water.

Bug
spray –
Nothing can ruin a hike, camping trip or night around the campfire
faster than being chewed up by mosquitos. Keep a can of bug spray in your car
to ward off unwanted flying friends whenever the need arises.

An
umbrella –
Don’t let the rain get you down! Keeping an umbrella in your
car is a smart move year-round but can be especially useful in the spring and summer when rain showers are more
common.

Jumper
cables –
This is something you should always have
stored away in your car for safety purposes. During the summer months, these
cables might also come in handy should you decide to attend a drive-in movie
and need to give your car a little jump after the film. Need a reminder on how

A
jacket or sweatshirt –
If a fun day with friends turns
into a night around the campfire, then you’re probably going to want something
warm to throw on over your short sleeve shirt – here in New York, we know even those summer nights can
get chilly! Aside from a sweatshirt, it’s also a good idea to keep a raincoat
stored in your vehicle alongside that umbrella.

Sunglasses
If possible, keep two pairs in your vehicle. One to
walk around in and one to keep in your storage compartment. Sunglasses have a
way of disappearing!

A first
aid kit –
You never know when you’ll need it and it’s
always better to be over prepared. Pack up items such as bandages, antiseptic
cream, scissors, painkillers (acetaminophen or ibuprofen) and antihistamine
tablets, and make sure the kit is always stocked.

A
flashlight –
Not only are flashlights essential
camping tools, they are also a great addition to your car safety kit. A flashlight can prove
invaluable should you break down at night.

Snacks
With all of the different activities you’ll be busy
doing this summer, make sure you always have snacks on hand to keep your blood
sugar stable. Granola bars and dried fruit will keep in your car and can be
healthy energy refuelers when you’re on the go.

With a car full of summer essentials, there’s
no telling what kind of adventures this summer season has in store for you!
