Ammar Al-Salem Assumes Presidency at Modern Specialty Insurance, Welcomes Rachana Patel as Vice President of Underwriting

With more than 15 years of industry experience, Rachana began her career as a commercial lines underwriter specializing in the SME space with Economical Insurance, Wawanesa, and RSA. In her most recent role, Rachana was Vice President at a Canadian MGA known for her technical expertise and driving growth initiatives while developing new underwriters to the industry. MSI is fortunate to have Rachana join the leadership team as we continue to grow our footprint in Canada and grow the company’s offerings to better serve our broker partners, says the in-coming President.

Ammar Al-Salem, a seasoned insurance professional with over 20 years of experience, has taken the helm at MSI effective September 16, 2024. Beginning his career as a broker and underwriter, Ammar brings a wealth of experience to this role, having worked with leading Canadian carriers and brokerages on the Property & Casualty, Specialty Insurance, and Group Benefits space. In recent years, he has held several key leadership positions focused on business and cultural transformations and leading high-performance teams with an emphasis on delivering exceptional service to clients and broker partners. At MSI, Ammar will focus on driving growth initiatives across Canada while bringing innovation and creativity to simplify how clients transact business in the insurance industry.
