CSIO Congratulates Applied Systems Canada for Becoming Commercial Lines Certified in Key Industry Segments

TORONTO, ON, SEPTEMBER 10, 2024/insPRESS/ – CSIO is pleased to announce that Applied Systems Canada has earned Commercial Lines (CL) Data Standards Certification for the Business & Professional Services, Contractors, Retail and Real Estate industry segments, positioning future quoting innovation within Applied Epic. Applied has also added Real Estate to Applied Policy Works, enabling the delivery of accurate real-time quotes to brokers through an Application Programming Interface (API), with all four segments now available for both platforms.

CSIO certifies insurers and Broker Management System (BMS) vendors for programming CL Data Standards based on industry segments. The Commercial Lines Working Group has published requirements for 12 industry segments, representing 376 Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) codes. Additionally, an insurer or BMS vendor can become certified in binding all industry segments.

Brokers using Applied Policy Works can obtain commercial quotes in as little as 10 seconds from insurers who have programmed an API for these four segments. API quoting allows brokers to send and receive quotes directly within their BMS, eliminating the need to re-key data, log into portals, or email and call insurers to request a quote.

“Applied’s commercial solutions are designed to simplify brokers’ day-to-day workflow through standardized data. Our ability to generate real-time quotes for these four industries is a significant achievement,” said Steve Whitelaw, Senior Vice President and General Manager at Applied Systems Canada. “By leveraging API technology, we can automate the quoting process for brokers to save time and enhance their customer service.”

“I commend Applied Systems Canada for achieving these Certifications,” said Catherine Smola, President & CEO of CSIO. “This accomplishment underscores Applied’s ongoing commitment to driving innovation in the property & casualty industry by using leading-edge technology to improve broker productivity. Widespread adoption of CL Data Standards is critical to support commercial lines business.”

To achieve CL Data Standards Certification, insurers and BMS vendors must program the CL Data Standards and demonstrate the ability to quote via API for any of CSIO’s 12 published industry segments. Insurers and BMS vendors can access the CL Business Requirements and Certification Document, which includes the requirements for programming CL Data Standards for each segment and the Certification process. They can also use CSIO’s CL Validator to confirm if their XML file complies with the CL Data Standards during implementation. Brokers are invited to visit csio.com to view the IBC codes included in CL Data Standards.
