BMS Re, the reinsurance arm of global broker BMS Group, has appointed Brad Melvin (pictured above) as president and chief executive officer of BMS Re US, effective in November.

Melvin will report to group CEO Nick Cook and will be responsible for leading BMS Re’s US operations, focusing on achieving strategic objectives and driving growth across various business lines, including MGA, regional specialty, facultative reinsurance, healthcare, and capital solutions.

Melvin brings significant leadership experience, having held executive roles at Gen Re, CNA Financial, and most recently at AON Reinsurance Solutions, where he served as president of the US regional insurer group and global insurance vertical leader.

He was also a member of AON Re’s global executive committee and leadership team, as well as AON Corporation’s executive leadership team.

This appointment is part of BMS Group’s broader efforts to invest in the growth of its reinsurance business and attract top talent in the industry.

Cook said that Melvin’s experience in both national carriers and regional markets positions him well to lead BMS Re through its next phase of investment and expansion.

Melvin said that he looks forward to contributing to the continued success of BMS Re, noting the company’s ambitious plans for the next five years and expressing enthusiasm about working with the team to achieve those goals.

Melvin’s appointment is subject to regulatory approval. In the interim, Nick Cook and Andrew Wheeler, along with the US executive committee and group COO Chris Brook, will continue to manage the business.
