Cane hired to lead Aon’s Capital Advisory UK, APAC to be headed by Choo
Insurance and reinsurance broker Aon has announced the appointment of Mike Cane as Capital Advisory leader for the United Kingdom, and Yen Chu Choo as Capital Advisory leader for Asia Pacific (APAC).
In their new roles, both Cane and Choo, will assist clients to optimise their capital structures from a regulatory, ratings, and economic perspective.
This will involve improving their capital efficiency through capital strategies such as structured reinsurance, capital relief covers, and legacy transactions, which can help to unlock capital and drive growth potential.
The reinsurance broking capital advisory teams also work closely with capital markets divisions, helping to ensure clients have access to a broad range of reinsurance capital providers and insurance-linked securities (ILS) structures.
Choo and Cane will also work with the Capital Advisory Ratings Advisory team to assist their respective clients with the new ratings process, as well as maintaining and improving their existing ratings.
Additionally, aiming to bring new capital solutions to regional clients to help shape better decisions and drive profitable growth, they will be collaborating with Aon’s global Capital Advisory unit.
Cane will be based in London and joins Aon from reinsurance broker Gallagher Re, where he was Head of Capital Solutions, UK.
He brings with him over two decades of industry experience spanning underwriting, analytics, reinsurance broking and capital advisory.
Cane will be reporting to Kelly Superczynski, global head of Capital Advisory, who commented: “Mike’s wealth of industry experience, leadership qualities, and participation on several high profile transactions, made him the right fit to drive our UK Capital Advisory proposition forward.”
Choo will be reporting to George Attard, CEO of Reinsurance Solutions for APAC and continue to be based in Singapore.
She has been part of Aon since 2021 when she joined the company, and most recently served as senior director within the APAC Capital Advisory team.
Attard said: “Yen Chu’s appointment represents another step in the rapid development of our global Capital Advisory function. Asia Pacific is a dynamic region with evolving regulatory regimes and capital requirements and it is highly important that Capital Advisory is integrated into our delivery of value to clients.”
