Rohit Boda, the Managing Director of India-headquartered insurance and broking specialist J.B. Boda Group, has launched a new Dubai-registered company named RB Ventures, which promises to connect investors with a range of re/insurance opportunities, from insurtech venture to connecting capital and risk through alternative risk transfer structures.

RB Ventures aims to connect global investors with high-impact ventures within and beyond the insurance, reinsurance, and insurtech sectors, the company explained.

The company said, “In an era marked by economic and geopolitical uncertainties, evolving regulatory landscapes, inflation, rapid technological advancements, climate change, and rising capital costs, businesses face unprecedented challenges that demand innovative and robust solutions.

“At RB Ventures, we recognize that addressing these complexities requires a confluence of tailored strategies and adequate capital flow. Our mission is to foster an ecosystem where visionary stakeholders can collaborate, leveraging our services to achieve their strategic objectives. By prioritizing innovation and investment, we aim to empower our partners to navigate the present and future business landscape with confidence and resilience.”

Leveraging the network Boda has created across insurance and reinsurance markets, the company will look to connect these relationships with providers of capital.

There will be a focus on financial technology and insurtech venture investing, as well as in innovation and impact related opportunities where investors’ capital can make a difference.

Also in scope will be life and non-life insurance or reinsurance companies, distribution and value-chain plays such as managing general agents (MGAs), as well as niche areas such as healthcare technology, agricultural tech and climatetech opportunities, the company said.

Most interesting to us at Artemis, RB Ventures will also look to connect capital to risk through alternative risk transfer mechanisms and has an ambition to help investors access ILS-style investment opportunities with a focus on some of the key markets Boda has a strong presence in.

RB Ventures also has an ambition to channel capital from investors in markets where insurance-linked securities (ILS) opportunities may be less familiar, so helping to educate and build-out new investors bases in the Middle East and Asian regions, and beyond.

Rohit Boda himself has a history of entrepreneurial ventures within re/insurance and outside, as well as being an active investor in the global startup ecosystem.

He is also passionate about unlocking new capital sources to help in delivering more insurance risk capital to areas where it is needed most, so his new RB Ventures initiative will be interesting to watch as it develops.
