FWD Group Holdings Limited has announced a collaboration with the Royal University of Phnom Penh that aims to boost financial education in Cambodia.

Announced during a local business community luncheon held at the country’s capital, the collaboration will entail training for more than 100 media practitioners as well as a story-writing competition which aims to raise awareness regarding financial planning through media stories.

“We’re pleased to partner with the Department of Media and Communication at the Royal University of Phnom Penh to help to drive greater awareness and understanding of longer-term financial planning in the community,” said FWD Cambodia CEO Guanghui Chim.

The chief executive said the initiative will be able to foster financial literacy in creative ways.

“By teaming up with the well-regarded Department of Media and Communication, we are confident that participating journalists and content creators will use their skill and creativity to bring the concepts of financial literacy to life in an engaging way,” he said.

The local business community luncheon had formed part of a delegation to Cambodia, which was led by John KC Lee, the chief executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China. With the Pacific Century Group chairman Richard Li Tzar Kai joining the business delegation, the event was organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
