SiriusPoint hires Gonzalez from AXIS as Global Head of Ceded Reinsurance

SiriusPoint Ltd., the global specialty re/insurer, has announced the hiring of well-known reinsurance buying focused senior executive Inmaculada Gonzalez, who will join the company as its Global Head of Ceded Reinsurance, effective August 19th 2024.

Gonzalez was most recently Deputy Global Head of Ceded Reinsurance at Bermuda based specialty underwriter AXIS Capital, a position she took on in March 2023.

SiriusPoint said that Gonzalez will report to David Govrin, Group President and Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) of the company.

In the role, Gonzalez will be responsible for executing SiriusPoint’s global ceded reinsurance strategy, as well as coordinating and managing its global ceded team.

She succeeds Habib Kattan, who will leave SiriusPoint on December 31st 2024, following a period of transition, the company explained.

Gonzalez had previously been the Head of Ceded Reinsurance Placements, US at AXIS since July 2019.

She has worked in ceded reinsurance roles since 2002, but her career began in 1984 when she joined broker Marsh in New York.

With time spent working at Constitution, Great Lakes, Winterthur and Partner Re in underwriting roles, Gonzalez became a ceded reinsurance manager at QBE North America in 2002 and by 2010 was that firms Head of Ceded Reinsurance for North America.

In 2015, she moved to Miami and led ceded reinsurance for the Latin America region for QBE Insurance, after which, Gonzalez became a Senior Ceded Reinsurance Officer for AIG based in New York in 2017, where she worked until moving to AXIS in 2019.
