Ando Insurance Group Limited has announced its involvement in the Fareshare initiative as part of its dedication to sustainability and the wellbeing of New Zealand residents.

Through this programme, Ando is providing a 25% subsidy on Auckland Public Transport services for employees who possess a registered AT HOP card.

Ando Insurance Group’s sustainability initiative

Ando said joining the Fareshare initiative aligns with its broader sustainability goals and its mission to positively impact New Zealanders’ wellbeing.

“We are proud to be an early adopter of the Fareshare initiative. This step aligns with our broader sustainability approach and our purpose to positively impact the wellbeing of New Zealanders. Since 2021, we have been actively measuring and reducing our greenhouse gas emissions. Fareshare is our latest effort to remove barriers to sustainable commuting choices for our employees,” said Ando CEO John Lyon.

Fareshare initiative

Publicly launched by Auckland Transport several months ago, the Fareshare initiative has already seen significant uptake at Ando, with over 100 employees enrolling within the first week.

Ando’s goal is to achieve at least a 10% increase in the use of public transport among its staff and an overall enhancement in commuting wellbeing.

Early surveys have shown that public transport commutes are rated higher in terms of wellbeing compared to car commutes.

“We hope to see other New Zealand businesses join us in promoting sustainable behaviours. The feedback from our staff has been overwhelmingly positive, appreciating the subsidy, the ease of the sign-up process, and the knowledge that they are doing something tangible for the environment by choosing to take public transport,” Lyons said.

To select this year’s best insurance companies for claims, Insurance Business sought feedback from insurance brokers across Australia and New Zealand.

The Insurance Business research team surveyed a wide range of brokerages to identify what brokers value in a claims insurer and interviewed numerous brokers, asking them to rate the claims insurers that they had worked with over the past 12 months.

The research team then assigned weighted values to each criterion being rated by insurance brokers. Insurance companies that received the highest rankings in terms of work quality, specialist expertise, and client service made it to this year’s list of Best Insurance Companies for Claims in Australia and New Zealand.
