Wawanesa Insurance has become the official insurance partner of the Corporation of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall.

As the designated insurance partner for the charitable non-profit venues, Wawanesa contributes directly to their educational programs, community outreach efforts, and initiatives aimed at artist development.

Selena Hinds, vice president of communications and marketing at Wawanesa, stated: “Wawanesa is committed to supporting the communities where our members and employees live and work.

“We are proud to announce a partnership with Wawanesa Insurance, uniting two iconic Canadian brands rooted in serving the community since the late 1800s,” commented Advancement Group director Jennifer Shah.

“Massey Hall and Wawanesa celebrate shared values, and through this partnership, Massey Hall and Wawanesa will continue to uphold our commitment to enriching communities.”

The partnership follows a new grants program introduced by Wawanesa in June. Wawanesa Climate Champions: Local Grants is an initiative that offers community organizations the chance to receive up to $25,000 in funding for local climate resilience projects. Eligible applicants include registered charities, non-profits, and Indigenous communities.

The grant is part of the wider Wawanesa Climate Champions program, which supports those actively working to create more resilient communities in the face of climate change.

Communications and community impact director Jackie De Pape Hornick said at the time: “Local Grants are part of Wawanesa’s commitment to building community resiliency in the face of urgent challenges posed by climate change.

“Great work is happening locally across Canada, and we want to support it by providing financial assistance for innovative projects that contribute to the well-being and sustainability of communities.”
