Cyber incidents have become an alarming threat to the global economy. The European Union has now issued clear directives to strengthen IT security. The new EU directive NIS-2 (Network and Information Security Directive 2) is intended to improve cybersecurity in Europe and contains legal measures to compel organisations to strengthen their security precautions. HDI Global offers clients innovative services to support them in meeting the tightened NIS-2 standards.
With the implementation of NIS-2 on 16 January 2023, the requirements for cybersecurity for companies in Europe will further increase. The new directive expands the existing provisions from 2016 and organisations affected will be called upon in the future not only to better protect their networks and IT systems, but also to be able to act in the event of a cyber-attack. Penalties for non-compliance with regulations can hit organisations hard and lead to payments in the millions. In addition, NIS-2 creates a legal framework for personal liability of executive bodies for non-compliance.
Meike Röllecke, Head of Cyber & Financial Lines at HDI Global SE said, “The introduction of NIS-2 presents companies with great challenges. Many companies, especially small and medium-sized businesses, are faced with the problem of limited resources and lack of expertise in cybersecurity. Here we provide targeted support with our specially designed services.”
NIS-2 deliberately relies on the company’s own responsibility, as they themselves are responsible for checking whether they need to take measures for their cybersecurity to meet the requirements of NIS-2.
HDI Global offers clients exclusive access to a range of services aimed at improving the security level of companies and entire value chains. This covers security-critical areas such as incident management, business continuity, cryptography, authentication, and emergency communication. In this context, customers can rely on the 1:1 support from HDI Global’s Cyber Risk Engineers, as well as specially selected and tested service providers as part of the Value Added Services.
Dr Mukadder Erdönmez, Member of the HDI Global SE Executive Board, responsible for Third-party Liability, Cyber Insurance and Motor commented, “We see intensive risk management in companies as key to minimising the frequency and scale of cyber damage. Our goal is to support companies in meeting the new NIS-2 standards and to keep the challenges of cybersecurity precautions as low as possible. By offering our clients high-quality services to support the requirements associated with the directive, we strengthen their trust in modern technologies and prove to be the reliable partner in digital transformation.”
