Appleby hires experienced ILS & re/insurance lawyer Minors in Bermuda

Appleby, the specialist global law firm and fiduciary services provider, has announced the hiring of Cathryn Minors, a lawyer with experience across insurance-linked securities (ILS), insurance and reinsurance in offshore domiciles, as a new Counsel in its Bermuda office.

Cathryn Minors was most recently working at offshore law firm Walkers in Bermuda, where as a Senior Associate she worked across a range of offshore reinsurance and ILS matters.

Minors has joined Appleby as a Counsel in its Corporate department in Bermuda, but is best known for her work as a legal specialist in the ILS and re/insurance space.

During her time working in the Bermuda market, Minors has worked on insurance and reinsurance matters involving life insurance securitizations, catastrophe bonds, special purpose insurers (SPI), and long-term and general business commercial re/insurers.

She also has experience in other areas of finance, having worked on other securitizations and general banking matters.

Minors worked at Walkers in Bermuda for more than two years, prior to which she worked as a legal counsel at life, annuity and pensions re/insurance group Athora on the island.

Before that, Minors spent over six years at another offshore specialist law firm, Conyers, and has also spent some time working in law in Hong Kong during her career.
