Arbella Insurance Foundation Raises Over $71,000 for 64 Hunger Relief Programs Across New England

QUINCY, Mass., April 29, 2024 — The Arbella Insurance Foundation (“Foundation”) today announced that it has raised nearly $72,000 for its annual “Let’s Drive Out Hunger” campaign, which supports food insecurity programs across New England. This year, the Foundation continued to invite Arbella Insurance Group (“Arbella”) employees to participate in the campaign along with Arbella Insurance Group independent agents. In total, the Foundation in partnership with Arbella agents and employees have raised more than $2,030,000 over the last 16 years.

“At Arbella, we do our best to address the most critical issues in our community, hunger and food insecurity being at the top of our list. I am so proud of our employees and agents for their generosity during this year’s ‘Let’s Drive out Hunger’ campaign,” said John Donohue, chairman, president and CEO of the Arbella Insurance Group and chairman and president of the Arbella Insurance Foundation. “We stay committed to fighting hunger and doing our part to ignite and support change around food insecurity in New England.”

The “Let’s Drive Out Hunger” campaign centers on a matching gift program in which the Foundation matches donations made by Arbella independent agents and employees, on a two-to-one basis, up to $1,500 per agency and employee. From November 1, 2023 through February 29, 2024, together with the matching Foundation donation, Arbella agents and employees raised over $50,000, totaling over $130,000 in donations for the year.

“I want to thank the Arbella Foundation for supporting the Northampton Survival Center’s work to feed low-income individuals and families,” said Danielle Brown, Development Director of the Northampton Survival Center. “We are grateful for the Foundation and its employees who donate generously. Their support allows us to provide nutritious food to those in need, so we’re always thankful for their partnership.”

“Let’s Drive Out Hunger” empowers Arbella’s independent insurance agents to select food programs in their own communities that they want to support. 64 food pantries across New England received donations this year, including Northampton Survival Center in Northampton, MA, Salem Mission in Salem, MA, Community Servings in Boston, and FISH of Northwestern Connecticut.

Hunger is one of the critical issues facing Massachusetts, as the state works to combat food insecurity alongside a high cost of living, utilities, transportation and more. According to a recent study, 20% of households in Massachusetts experience very low food security, and 1-in-3 households experienced child-level food insecurity. Arbella is committed to working towards a day where no child must skip a meal due to lack of funds.

“Arbella employees and agents are extremely generous,” said Robin Jones, executive director of the Arbella Insurance Foundation. “It is our duty and passion to support the hunger crisis to the best of our ability, and I am always inspired by the generosity of our employees and agents in support of the Foundation’s mission and initiatives that are close to all of our hearts.”
