Roofnest’s Spacious Falcon 3 EVO Is The Most Aerodynamic Rooftop Tent You Can Buy
Rooftop tents, and the entire overlanding industry, have been booming since the pandemic hit and folks suddenly remembered that nature is beautiful and important. Roofnest’s new Falcon 3 EVO tent separates itself from the crowd by being the most aerodynamic rooftop tent on the market. It also manages to have more internal storage than all other clamshell tents, and it still allows owners to store light bedding inside when the clamshell is closed.

The Falcon 3 EVO tents feature a blackout coating that keeps things dark until you want to let the light in, and both sizes have HVAC ports. Compared to Roofnest’s Falcon 2 EVO, the Falcon 3 EVO is shorter and lighter, yet has 38 percent more interior space. Falcon 3 EVO tents also have two side windows, an overhead moonroof, and two meter-long dimmable LED light strips.

There are two Falcon 3 EVO models, the standard and the Falcon 3 EVO XL. The standard tent weighs 140 pounds and allegedly sleeps two people under 6’2” tall. It’s 83 inches long, 50 inches wide, and sits 8 inches tall when closed. The EVO XL weighs 170 pounds, is 88 inches long, 60 inches wide, and sits at the same 8-inch height when closed. The standard Falcon 3 EVO opens to a height of 58 inches while the XL opens to 64 inches, but the XL tent somehow manages to maintain the same interior dimensions at 85 inches by 57 inches. Both sizes feature a 2-inch-thick memory foam mattress and both come with 7.5-foot ladders.
The standard tent costs a pricey $3,495, and the XL costs an extra $300. These tents are offered with accessories like a self-inflating 4-inch-thick Featherbed Air Mattress for $275, a tent insulation kit that zips into place for $249, and a giant awning with a price that ranges from $349 up to $699 for the awning, walls, and a floor. All Roofnest tents come with a non-transferrable two year warranty that covers workmanship, parts, and materials that fail during normal use.

Given all of the space, compactness, and features that these tents offer, they seem like expensive yet solid options for overlanders who want a light, space-efficient rooftop tent. Roofnest is currently selling the existing Falcon 2 XL for $2,245, more than $1,500 cheaper than the new Falcon 3 XL. If you’re serious about rooftop tent camping and overlanding, then a Roofnest Falcon 3 might be exactly what you’re looking for, but there are cheaper options that provide similar space for significantly less dough.
