Everest Insurance has announced the establishment of a dedicated private equity practice. The practice will expand Everest’s offerings across property and casualty lines to meet the needs of private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies in North America, the company said.

“Building on Everest’s strong private equity foundation, we are scaling our offering with a holistic approach, specialised products, and exceptional service to meet customers’ needs,” said Mike Mulray, president of Everest Insurance North America. “Everest’s expanded offering aligns to our trading partners’ preferred way of doing business – with dedicated expertise through a single point of contact focused on providing the best possible experience.”

With the establishment of the practice, Everest Insurance has appointed Dan Reinert (pictured above) as private equity vertical leader. Reinert will report to Rob Clark, head of Everest Specialty Underwriters.

Prior to taking his new role, Reinert oversaw private equity within Everest Specialty Underwriters. Before joining Everest, he served in underwriting and leadership roles at global insurance carriers, focusing exclusively on financial lines and fund liability.

Everest Insurance has also announced the appointment of Mat Mulray as head of private equity distribution. In that role, Mulray will oversee the private equity vertical’s sales and distribution effort, serving as a single point of contact for clients and brokers.

Mulray joined Everest in 2016 as Northeast Region distribution leader for North America. Prior to joining Everest, Mulray served as a risk management client executive for a large global broker.

“Dan and Matt are exceptionally strong leaders who have a deep understanding of the private equity sector and how to best service the insurance needs of sponsors and portfolio companies,” Clark said. “I look forward to working closely with both Dan and Matt as we scale our private equity offering and deliver even greater speed, service and value to our customers.”

Earlier this month, Everest announced the appointment of Chuck Volker as chair of global property for Everest Reinsurance. Everest Reinsurance also recently established a new global specialties division.
