Industrial insurer HDI Global SE Australia (HDI) has strategically enhanced its liability team in the western and southern states in response to market demands.

Tami Sorensen (pictured) assumes the role of southern region liability manager following a recent promotion. In her new position, she will play a pivotal part in steering development and strategy across Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria, and Tasmania.

Joining the HDI team in 2021, Sorensen was instrumental in establishing the liability product in Western Australia, successfully building a robust portfolio for the region.

“Tami has been instrumental in establishing HDI’s liability proposition in the Western Australian market. With two decades of experience and a strong track record of success, she will continue to bring the best of HDI to brokers and clients,” said Alex Tarantino, regional underwriting manager liability and cyber for Asia-Pacific at HDI.

Other appointments

Supporting Sorensen in her expanded responsibilities is the appointment of Leah Nesbitt, who joined the team as assistant underwriter in Western Australia, stationed at the Perth office.

Simultaneously, Zubin Mathew has been promoted to the position of Victoria liability manager, operating from the HDI Melbourne office. He will focus on further expanding the growing portfolio in Victoria, South Australia, and Tasmania.

Tarantino welcomed Nesbitt to the HDI team and extended congratulations to Mathew on his new role.

“Congratulations to Zubin on his promotion to VIC liability manager. Zubin joined us just over a year ago and has demonstrated his positive attitude to assist both brokers and clients with their insurance needs,” he said. “As we continue to focus on the commercial middle market in addition to our corporate and multinational offering – namely by our industry leading position regarding international programmes – we are well positioned thanks to these positive changes to our liability team.”
