Showcasing your company culture. Employees want to work for a company that aligns with their values. Using social media, you can showcase your values and your company perks.
Improving relationships. Highlighting current employees on your social media platform can help boost employee engagement and help with retention.
Now that you’re ready to start focusing on your social media, here are 5 steps to creating a strategy to attract and retain top talent:
1. Pick the social media channels your audience is most likely on.
You don’t have to be on every social media platform there is. Find the platforms that your target audiences are on and focus your strategy on those specific platforms.
2. Showcase your company culture on social media.
You need potential talent to come to your page and want to work for your company. Some ways to show your culture are by posting: awards your company has won, employee perks that align with your company values, fun events and team building your employees do, or even just the day-to-day life on the job. These are all things that could make your company stand out from the next.
3. Highlight current employees.
Posting about your employees’ accomplishments or just including them puts a face to your company. This can help with attracting new talent, and also help you build relationships to retain the employees you’re highlighting. You can highlight current employees by posting a quote from them or congratulating them for an accomplishment. Note, that you should always receive permission from the employees before posting about them publicly on social media.
4. Promote job openings.
The obvious way to attract top talent is by posting your job openings on your social media platforms. Posting to your social media platforms gets more eyes on the job and people will be able to share and engage with the post as well. This job posting might end up in the social media feed of the perfect candidate who might not have seen it otherwise.
5. Have your recruiters using LinkedIn to find top talent.
Your recruiters should be using LinkedIn to find talent. LinkedIn has a wide variety of information to narrow down people with the certain skillset your company is looking for. Take advantage of the information that is available to you on this platform.
Social media can be a very powerful marketing tool for your business if there is a thought-out strategy and purpose behind what you’re posting. Social media will only continue to grow but when used correctly it can help your company grow as well.
